Nisha Jatra

At stroke of midnight on Ashtami, after the worship and rituals at the Danteshwari temple, procession of the deity’s Palki, accompanied by musicians , priests and devotees, reaches the Nisha Jatra temple. It is believed that the temple is the abode of Khameshwari Devi and the temple is open only once a year.

Mawli Parghav

Mawli Devi’s arrival for Dussehra in Jagdalpur is marked by a grand reception known ad “Parghav”, involving a ceremonial procession with the royal family in dignitaries. The celebration maintains its ancient grandeur, Mawli Devi being welcomed with fireworks, music, and rituals at various temples across the Bastar region.

Bhitar Raini

On Dussehra, the main peiest performs a ceremonial parikrama of the Mawli Temple using a large VIctory Chariot. This chariot, made of wood and distinct from flower chariots, is exclusively pulled by indigenous people from the Kodenar-Kilepal region.

Bahar Raini

After the chariot’s parikrama is complete, it is traditionally stolen late at night and hidden about 3 km away from the town at a place called “Kumdakot”. This sight is significant for both the state and outside regions.
